Yvonne English Medium School is an independent primary school to be established in eSantini, a lower-income community in East London, Eastern Cape. The school will initially serve Grade 1 to Grade 3 learners (ages 7–10 years) with English as the primary medium of instruction, while providing exposure to additional languages, to promote multilingual competency.
The institution’s founding principle is embedded in its motto: “You are the seed of tomorrow’s forest”, reflecting its commitment to nurturing young minds into future leaders, innovators, and responsible citizens.
In an area where many families cannot afford the high fees of established English medium schools, Yvonne English Medium School will bridge the gap by delivering affordable, quality education aligned with the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), Department of Basic Education (DBE) requirements, and the South African Schools Act (No. 84 of 1996), while also fostering community upliftment and socio-economic participation.
“To nurture young minds in eSantini and beyond through quality education, values-based guidance, and a supportive environment. Building confident, compassionate, and capable learners who can break cycles of poverty and uplift their community, contributing meaningfully to society.”
“Our mission is to provide exceptional, affordable education to children in underserved areas, combining academic excellence with moral development, fostering lifelong learning, and promoting inclusivity, creativity, and community responsibility.”
